New disease of the century, stress wreaks havoc both psychologically and physically. Before it gets out of hand, take charge and apply our tips to get out of stress.
Stress, an evil present in our everyday life
Whether at work or because of a lifestyle at 100 per hour, stress is omnipresent, even sometimes without realizing it account. However, too much stress is harmful to our health. So how do you recognize the first signs of it?
Physical manifestations of stress
Physical symptoms are the easiest to recognize. Here are the main manifestations of too frequent stress on the body:
- Headache;
- Sleep disturbances;
- Asthenia (great fatigue);
- Heart palpitations;
- Various pains in the body;
- Eating disorders (loss of appetite or on the contrary, overeating).
The whole body can be affected by stress, as it exhausts the body and makes it more vulnerable to germs and other more serious diseases.
Psychological manifestations of stress
Thinner, these signals are not immediately noticeable. They take hold, insidiously, and end up ruining our lives. This is what you should be aware of:
- Flushes of anguish;
- Irritability;
- Loss of self-esteem;
- Development of addictions;
- State of depression;
- Disrupted social life.
At one point, the brain ends up not following any more, one can then also note loss of memory, disturbances of the concentration, dizziness… As many signals as ‘we must take into account in order to act.
When stress makes you sick
If you ignore all of these signals sent out by your body and mind, stress can end up making you really sick. Either by accentuating chronic pathologies from which you already suffer (asthma, Crohn’s disease, psoriasis, etc.), or outright by triggering new conditions (heart problems, ulcers). And then one day your mind may say STOP. We then fall into a nervous breakdown, or a real burn-out , which should then be treated carefully.
Attack program to get out of stress
The idea was not to scare you, but to make you realize that you should not neglect your exposure to stress . On the contrary, we must try to detach ourselves from it as much as possible. Here are some avenues to explore:
Take days off
If you can, take a few days off, especially if the stress you are experiencing is work-related. Take the opportunity to go for a weekend, no need to go very far to take a break. Switch off your phone, computer, TV and take some time to breathe.
Take care of yourself when you are under stress
If you can’t go away for a few days, at least take the time to pamper yourself. A good bath, a session in a massage institute or a picnic in the open air. Everything is good to take to give yourself a break . These breaks are essential to take a step back, and move away from stress.
To be accompanied
Sometimes when stress is too ingrained in our way of life, it can be good to find someone who can guide us towards wellness. There are professionals whose job it is: to teach you to feel good. Sophrologists, relaxologists, even psychologists will help you take this necessary distance.
Adopt an anti-stress lifestyle
Fighting stress is above all a way of life to adopt on a daily basis. This will help you to feel more serene, and to better manage the possible pressure surges that can sometimes fall on us.
The basics: sleep and nutrition
These are two pillars of good health, mental and physical. Follow my advice for healthy eating. Having all the necessary nutrients will help your body cope better with increased stress. As for sleep , it should not be neglected, for the same reasons. So we go to bed early, and at regular times if possible.
Sport to relieve tension
Sport is a great way to let off steam. HIIT, cardio, or weight training, it doesn’t matter as long as you clear your head and focus only on the physical effort. As a bonus, the endorphins secreted at the end of the session will give you a pleasant feeling of well-being which promotes falling asleep.
Meditation to calm the mind
Meditation is a great tool to teach you how to get out of stress. You will find on YouTube full of guided meditations to relax you, fall asleep, concentrate … No special knowledge is required, just let yourself be directed. No need to do it for hours, five short minutes a day can already make a big difference.
You now have all the cards in your hand to get out of this permanent state of stress which is exhausting your body and your mind. Put all of these tips into action, and come tell me what has worked best for you.
